Welcome to Radiance, the podcast—a space where mysticism, embodiment, and modern wisdom meet. I’m your host, Dr. Irene—Acupuncturist, Womb Oracle, and Sacred Sexuality Guide.
Today, we’re diving into one of the most ancient maps of feminine power: our moon cycle. Not just as something to manage or hide, but as a secret technology to embody, align with, and reclaim.
If you’ve ever felt ruled by your hormones, out of sync, or disconnected from your womb, this episode will guide you into a new relationship—one rooted in rhythm, reverence, and radical self-trust.
So, buckle your seatbelt. Here we go.
I really wanted to bring this subject into the podcast because I see this so often in my practice—women feeling disconnected from their rhythm and cycles, out of control with how their hormones take over their lives.
If that sounds like you, know this: it can change. You can shift your relationship with your body, with your moon cycle. Even if you’re no longer bleeding—if you’re perimenopausal or postmenopausal—the blueprint of the moon cycle still lives in your womb, your psyche, your vessel. You've lived it. And even if you weren't connected to it before, that blueprint is still available to you.
Let’s talk about the four phases of your moon cycle and how each one carries different powers, energies, and archetypes. This is how we begin to reclaim our rhythm.
In Chinese Medicine, we understand that illness comes from imbalance—imbalanced elements, yin and yang, stagnation, deficiency, or excess. When things are out of coherence, we experience dis-ease. And we also believe: as above, so below. We are a hologram of nature. We carry the codes and keys of creation—especially in our wombs.
So, if we look at the moon cycle through the lens of nature, we see how it mirrors the seasons.
The Menstrual Phase – Winter
This is your bleed time. When there’s no conception, the endometrial lining—the nutrient-rich blood and tissue—sheds. It’s a release, a clearing, a death. Just like winter. Nature slows down. Trees lose their leaves. Bears hibernate. Energy goes inward, deep into the roots.
This is a time to rest, retreat, and listen. This is when we receive the most potent downloads. When we bleed, we become Oracles. The veils thin, and we access deeper realms—guidance, ancestral wisdom, shamanic messages. But we have to stop. We have to be quiet enough to hear it.
The Follicular Phase – Spring
After your bleed, the follicular phase begins. Estrogen rises. Your endometrial lining rebuilds. In Chinese Medicine, this is the yin phase, associated with blood, moisture, and rebirth.
This is your springtime—the energy starts to rise. Think sprouts pushing through the soil, birdsong returning, new life blossoming. If you honored your winter, rested well, and nourished your roots, you’ll have the vitality to act on your visions. You’ll feel that post-period “I’m back!” energy.
This is the time for creativity, planning, and taking inspired action.
Ovulation Phase – Summer
Then comes ovulation—your summer. The body’s temperature rises. Estrogen peaks. This is your most active, radiant, magnetic time.
In Chinese Medicine, summer is the season of the heart, joy, connection, and pleasure. Think long days, social gatherings, and celebration. This is the time to be seen, to share, to express. Your energy is expansive. You're in your fullest bloom.
Luteal Phase – Fall
After ovulation, we enter the luteal phase—autumn. Energy begins to decline. Progesterone rises and then drops. Just like leaves turning gold and falling away, we begin to turn inward again.
This is a time to harvest the fruits of your labor, slow down, and begin preparing for winter. Your body asks for more rest, more warmth, more boundaries. This is when PMS symptoms may show up if we don’t listen to the call to slow down.
Living in Alignment
When you understand this cycle, you can start to plan your life around it.
For example, right now as I’m recording this, I’ve just ovulated—I’m in my summer. I’m full of energy, and I’m batch recording podcast content. But soon, I’ll shift. I’ll begin setting boundaries and pulling inward as I enter my moon cave. That’s where I become the Shaman. I do trance work, self-hypnosis, meditation. It’s one of my favorite times of the cycle.
And yes, you’ll have to say no to certain things—no to socializing before your bleed, yes to it during ovulation. But this is the feminine way. This is right alignment. And when you live this way, your stress hormones regulate. Your nervous system softens. You allow yourself to be cyclical, intuitive, whole.
Your diet can shift, too. During your luteal and menstrual phases, you need warm, nourishing foods—stews, bone broth, healthy fats like avocado and nuts. In follicular and ovulation phases, lighter foods may feel better. (Depending on your constitution.)
Your Unique Womb Constitution
Every woman flows differently. Some have intense PMS or cramps. Others don’t. That’s why I created a Womb Quiz—based on Chinese Medicine—to help you understand your constitution. Are you more hot or cold? Is there stagnation or dampness? Are you balanced? These insights help you support your body in coming back into coherence.
The Archetypes Within
Now let’s weave in the feminine archetypes. These offer a powerful map for your psyche and your womb.
Spring (Follicular Phase): The Maiden. Artemis. Diana. The virgin energy—curious, adventurous, creative. The part of you discovering your gifts and perfecting your craft.
Summer (Ovulation): The Lover and the Mother. Aphrodite. Venus. This is about sensuality, play, connection—not just sexual, but with life, friends, family, animals, nature. Then the first part of the luteal phase brings in the nurturing, caretaking Mother archetype.
Fall (Late Luteal Phase): The Witch. The medicine woman. The one who prepares—herbs, yoni steams, castor oil packs. She sets boundaries. She gathers the magic of nature to bring the body into harmony.
Winter (Menstruation): The Crone. The wise elder. The Shaman. The High Priestess. She sheds all identities, enters the void, and remembers her true nature. This is ego death. Pure presence. The I AM.
And if you're no longer cycling? You can still work with the moon. The moon moves through her own phases every 27.3 days. The dark moon connects to the Crone; the full moon connects to the Lover and Mother. You can sync to that.
