Welcome to Radiance, a podcast—a space where modern wisdom, mysticism, and feminine embodiment meet. I’m Dr. Irene, your host.
Before we dive into today’s episode, I invite you to take a moment to ground yourself. Wherever you are—unless you're driving—close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Inhale the biggest breath you've taken all day... and exhale through your mouth, allowing your body to settle.
Take another breath, feeling your shoulders relax, your belly soften. And one more—long, deep, intentional. Then return to a natural rhythm of breathing through your nose. Notice how just three conscious breaths can shift your energy, your presence.
This, to me, is the essence of feminine embodiment—simple practices that bring us back into our bodies, back into our truth.
And now, I am so excited to introduce our very first guest on the podcast: Karina La Torres.
Karina is a Mexican artist and astrologer. We've known each other since childhood, growing up in the same town—and after taking very different paths, we reconnected two decades later through the magic of astrology. She’s here today to talk about evolutionary astrology and the feminine archetypes woven into it.
Welcome, Karina. I’m so happy you’re here.
KARINA:
Thank you so much, Irene. I’m honored to be your first guest, and I’m really grateful to share this space with your community. You've always felt like a soul sister to me.
IRENE:
Likewise. I love you. Let’s start with your story—how did astrology come into your life? And why do you love it?
KARINA:
That’s a long story—but I’ll try to keep it short!
So yes, I’m an artist. I studied fine arts because, deep down, I’ve always needed to express my soul. Through my work, I’ve processed the moments that shook me most—and art became a sacred tool. A tool not only to heal myself, but to connect with others in a healing way.
Astrology came later. I was living in Tulum, newly a mother, and everything in my life had just fallen apart—my identity, my relationship, my family dynamics. It was one of those deep initiatory moments of crisis.
I was already drawn to symbolism—tarot, myth, dreams. But I needed something more. I was broke, so I started googling everything I could find about astrology—free blogs, articles, charts. I became obsessed. I looked up my birth chart and started decoding it, piece by piece.
And something clicked.
It was like my entire life made sense. Like all the fragments of my story came together. I recognized myself in the archetypes. I forgave myself. I felt held. Astrology helped me remember that I wasn't broken—I was part of a greater design.
And I couldn’t keep it to myself. I started offering readings to friends, then friends of friends... and five years later, here I am—an evolutionary astrologer who still loves watching people’s eyes light up when they see themselves clearly for the first time.
IRENE:
That’s so powerful. I love how you described astrology as bringing your pieces back together. That’s the essence of healing—from the Greek word “to make whole.”
Astrology, for me, is both permission and forgiveness. Permission to be who you are... and forgiveness for all the ways you may have misunderstood yourself. It helps us see our gifts, our limits, and everything in between.
And as I’ve watched you over the years—first as an artist, now as an astrologer—I’ve always felt your connection to something archetypal, something magical. Your art, your messages, your interpretation of the skies... they feel like codes. And I think you’re such a beautiful translator of those codes.
So let’s talk archetypes. What is an archetype to you?
KARINA:
Skipping the dictionary definition? I’d say an archetype is a symbol that holds a story. A code. A pattern of behavior and energy.
In astrology, the planets represent these codes—each one a concentrated story we live through. It’s like art: you look at a painting, and there’s a universe inside it. You can’t define it in one sentence, but you feel it.
Once you identify with an archetype, consciously or unconsciously, you begin to live it out. But when you know the code behind the pattern, you gain the power to shift it. You can ride the wave—or break the cycle.
IRENE:
Yes. Archetypes are imprints—energetic blueprints. When they remain unconscious, they rule our lives. As Carl Jung said: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.”
Astrology makes the unconscious conscious. It helps us see what we couldn’t before—so we can choose something new.
KARINA:
Exactly. Take the victim archetype. If you don’t know you’re embodying it, you’ll keep attracting situations that affirm that story. But once you see it, you can reclaim your power. You realize, “Wait—this isn’t the only part of me. I also have the warrior, the queen, the witch, the lover.”
That’s where the magic begins.
IRENE:
And every archetype has a shadow and a light. When we recognize we’re stuck in the lower vibration, we can choose to evolve into the higher expression.
I love how astrology reminds us of our capacity to transform.
KARINA:
Yes. One of my favorite tools for this is the lunar nodes. The South Node represents where we’ve been—what we’ve already experienced and mastered. And the North Node points to our soul’s evolutionary path. It’s uncomfortable, unfamiliar, but it’s where we grow.
IRENE:
It’s the soul’s direction—the head of the dragon guiding us forward. And astrology gives us the map.
Let’s talk now about feminine archetypes in astrology. So many traditional systems only gave us two: the Moon and Venus. But we know there are more. Can you walk us through them?
KARINA:
Yes! So traditionally, we had:
The Moon: The mother, the nurturer. She represents emotional safety, nourishment, our inner world, and unconscious needs.
Venus: The lover, the sensualist. She speaks to beauty, desire, pleasure, values, and our capacity to attract and be magnetized.
Then came Lilith—not a planet or asteroid, but a mathematical point. She represents the wild, untamed feminine. The one exiled from paradise for refusing to be submissive. She’s our raw truth, our anger, our sexual power. When repressed, she turns to rage. When honored, she’s a force of liberation.
IRENE:
Yes! Lilith is the black moon, the shadow mother. The rage that needs to move, or else it turns inward and attacks the body.
So many of us carry unprocessed Lilith energy. And when we reclaim her—through embodiment, through expression—we reclaim a huge part of ourselves.
KARINA:
And then we have the four main feminine asteroids, discovered in the 1800s but only recently integrated into astrology. They are:
Ceres – The nurturer/provider. She’s the goddess of agriculture and the seasons, symbolizing cycles of abundance, grief, and rebirth.
Pallas Athena – The strategist. Born from Zeus’s head, she’s wisdom, intellect, and the empowered feminine mind. She’s the woman who protects, plans, and leads.
Juno – The goddess of sacred commitment. Not just marriage, but any deep soul contract—partnerships, vocations, causes we devote ourselves to.
Vesta – The sacred flame. The priestess archetype. She guards inner devotion and spiritual sovereignty. She's not about celibacy—she’s about sacred containment of energy.
IRENE:
I love how each of these offers us a different lens. We’re not just mothers or lovers—we’re strategists, priestesses, rebels, nurturers, creators.
And when we know our personal chart—where these archetypes live in us—we can play. We can choose which one we want to embody.
KARINA:
Exactly. Awareness is the first step. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And from there, you get to decide: which archetype is supporting me now? Which one feels constrictive? Which one do I want to activate today?
It’s liberating.
IRENE:
Yes. For anyone listening, if you feel called to explore your archetypes and your soul’s map, I highly recommend booking a session with Karina. She’s an incredible astrologer, teacher, and guide.
Where can people find you?
KARINA:
