HOLISTIC MEDICINE

Holistic Medicine: A Brief History of Acupuncture

If you're thinking about trying holistic medicine for your health care needs, acupuncture Squamish may be a good fit for you. This ancient practice has helped people through the ages overcome pain and other health problems. Let's take a look at the history of acupuncture so you can understand how the practice began.

The first records of acupuncture's use in holistic medicine state that the practice originated in China. Needles, as we picture them today, were not yet developed, so sharp bones and/ rocks were used instead. Acupuncture theory states that the body's energy flow, or Qi, moves along twelve main pathways in the body. Over time, these pathways can become blocked, which can cause negative health symptoms to occur. Over time, acupuncture became a standard part of Chinese medicine, along with using herbs, massage, diet, and heat therapy to support a person's overall wellness.

When acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin, the Qi is redirected. A holistic medicine who specializes in acupuncture can redirect your body's Qi in a way that will relieve the symptoms you're experiencing. While many people feel relief after their first acupuncture Squamish appointment, you may need more treatments, depending on the severity of your symptoms.
